How to Fix Deep Facial Wrinkles

For many people, the aging process has a profoundly negative effect on their face. When combined with other factors, such as sun exposure and gravity, fine lines and wrinkles tend to develop much faster than they should. Over time, these conditions not only worsen, but also can become nearly impossible to improve without cosmetic treatment. At our Orange County practice, Dr. Andrés Taleisnik offers his patients a variety of options to effectively reduce deep facial wrinkles and attain a younger looking face.
Surgical: Facelift
A facelift focuses on rejuvenating the middle part of the face and the neck. It effectively reduces the nasolabial folds (creases from the nose) and marionette lines (creases from the corners of the mouth to the jaw), improves sagging jowls and a slacking jaw line, and removes loose skin and vertical bands from the neck. Also known as a “rhytidectomy,” this procedure involves making incisions in the hairline of the scalp and creases of the ears to remove excess skin and tissue. Once the desired amount of skin and tissue is removed and the underlying muscles are tightened, the remaining skin is redraped to a smoother contour, and the incisions are closed with sutures.
Non-Surgical: Neurotoxins
BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most popular injectable in the world. Derived from botulinum toxin A, this injectable temporarily diminishes the appearance of wrinkles by preventing contraction of the injected facial muscles.
BOTOX® can effectively correct the following:
- Wrinkles on the forehead
- Creases between the eyebrows
- Fine lines at the corners of the eyes (crow’s feet)
- Wrinkles around the mouth and chin
Non-Surgical: Fillers
JUVÉDERM® is a filler that is composed of an entirely natural substance found in the body called hyaluronic acid. This injectable adds long-lasting volume and hydration to the face.
JUVÉDERM® can effectively treat the following:
- Sunken cheeks
- Frown lines
- Nasolabial folds (depressions around the nose and mouth)
- Loss of fullness in the lips
All of the fillers Dr. Taleisnik uses at his practice are approved by the FDA. Unlike surgical procedures, treatment with BOTOX® and JUVÉDERM® do not require any downtime. Since non-surgical treatments typically only last four to six months, repeat treatments will be needed to maintain the best results possible.
