Breast implants can be filled with either silicone gel or saline. To achieve fullness and create the most natural breast-like feeling possible, breast implants are filled with saline. Because the implant is filled after it is in place, it can usually be placed through small incisions either in the crease under the breast, in the edge of the areola (the nipple) or in the armpit.
