Breast Augmentation and Breast Implants in
Orange County
Breast augmentation is an increasingly and overwhelmingly popular procedure in all regions of the country, and throughout much of the world. Few procedures have such a dramatic impact on a woman’s appearance, confidence, self-esteem, and sense of femininity as breast augmentation, also known as breast enhancement.
Newport Beach and Orange County breast augmentation patients seek surgery for numerous reasons. Some women’s breasts never develop sufficiently. Other women experience diminished fullness and volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding, complaining that their breasts are “empty,” “drooping” or “deflated.” This can also occur after losing significant weight. Yet other women are unhappy with the shape of their breasts, which can be overly conical or tubular in some cases. Although most women have some asymmetry, or difference between each breast, some women have such significant asymmetry that breast implants are needed to make the breasts more similar in size or shape.
Finally, some of my patients are women who already have reasonably shaped and sized breasts, and simply wish to increase their size and fullness. Following surgery, my patients repeatedly tell me that they feel more feminine, sexier, and more comfortable and confident wearing bathing suits and other types of clothing. Breast augmentation can improve the proportion of their figures, balancing the breasts with their shoulder width, hips, and butts. I spend considerable time with each patient to understand her goals and concerns fully, treating the patient as a whole, and not just as a pair of breasts to be enlarged. The results after breast enhancement or breast augmentation can be dramatic, and I receive great satisfaction from the joy my patients express to me after surgery.
There are many choices and options when contemplating breast augmentation surgery, including whether a breast lift should be utilized in addition to breast implants. I frequently evaluate patients who complain that their breasts are “droopy and saggy,” when in fact their breasts are simply “empty.” These women may obtain beautiful results with breast augmentation alone. Other patients do clearly benefit from combining a lift, or mastopexy, with the breast implants. For such patients, different types of lifts can be considered, each with its advantages and disadvantages. Other choices include use of saline or silicone breast implants, standard or high profile implants, location of the incisions, implant placement above or below muscle, and determination of the implant size that will provide the look YOU are seeking.
